Artist Statement

In my art, I delve deep into the intricate emotional landscape of human experience, particularly focusing on the societal stereotypes that impact women emotionally, mentally, and physically. Born and brought up in Nigeria, my work is a reflection of the cultural and societal nuances I have observed and experienced throughout my life.

My artistic journey is driven by a profound curiosity about human emotion and expression. I am passionate about capturing the nuanced bodily and facial expressions that reveal the hidden layers of human emotion, serving as a lens through which I interpret the complexities of the human emotional experience.

Venturing beyond the surface, I explore the intricate relationship between societal stereotypes and the unconscious mind. I am fascinated by how deeply ingrained societal norms and expectations seep into our subconscious, shaping our beliefs, perceptions, and self-conceptions. Drawing from the realm of the unconscious mind, I delve into the hidden desires, fears, and fantasies that manifest in our dreams, thoughts, and creative expressions.

Inspired by the Baroque movement, my artistic style is characterized by a masterful use of muted and dark color palettes, imbuing my paintings with a sense of subdued yet profound mood. I employ lights, shadows, and short brush strokes to create depth and texture, predominantly using oil colors for my paintings.
